Two dates matter for launch night. November 12 is when digital pre-loading starts on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. November 19 is when the game unlocks and becomes playable.

Rockstar's official site, the PlayStation Blog and the Launch Trailer all give the same November 19 date. Rockstar confirmed the pre-load date itself, while the regional unlock times come from store listings.

Midnight Local Time, Region by Region

According to PlayStation Store listings collated by GamingBolt and GTAVice, GTA 6 unlocks at midnight local time on November 19. The rollout spans 15 PlayStation release windows over about 19 hours. New Zealand is first, and North America is among the last windows.

In the UAE, for example, the game unlocks at 12:00am GST on November 19, which is 8:00pm UTC on November 18. The region set on your PlayStation account decides which window applies. Rockstar has not published these times itself, so check your store listing.

Xbox Unlock Times

The midnight schedule above comes from PlayStation listings. Xbox players should check the Xbox Store page for their region, since Microsoft's store handles its own timing. Pre-loading on Xbox Series X and Series S also starts on November 12.

Reports suggesting you can change your Xbox region to unlock early are speculation, not a Rockstar instruction. Changing regions can affect your account and purchases, so it is not something we recommend.

What to Do Before the Countdown Ends

Most launch-night problems can be fixed in the week before release. Pre-order digitally, or buy the physical code-in-box edition, so you can start the download on November 12. Make sure your console has enough free storage, since Rockstar has not confirmed the final file size.

The Launch Trailer Marks the Final Stretch

Rockstar released the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on October 15, 2026. It was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5 and features music from Justice, who composed the game's original score. The video passed 70 million views on Rockstar's YouTube channel.

Will the Countdown Change?

GTA 6 has been delayed twice, first from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026, and then to November 19, 2026. Since then, Rockstar has repeated the November date through the August 2026 leaks, the Extended Look and the Launch Trailer.

Use the final week to remove last-minute obstacles. Start the download on November 12 and confirm it finishes. If you bought the physical edition, redeem the code as soon as you have the box.

Bonuses Tied to the Countdown

Two bonuses depend on timing. The Vintage Vice City Pack is included with any edition bought before November 20, 2026, one day after launch. The PlayStation Store's free month of GTA+ requires a digital purchase by November 19, 2026.

What You Can Play When the Clock Hits Zero

At launch you get the full single-player story with Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. Take-Two has said GTA 6 is "a single-player title," so there is no online mode to queue for on day one.

Why There Is No Single Global Launch

A midnight local-time release means players in the Pacific start first and the Americas start last. It is common for digital game launches, and it is what the PlayStation Store listings show for GTA 6.

Rockstar has not announced a simultaneous worldwide unlock. If that changes, it will appear on the official site and the store pages first, and we will update this countdown.
