Is GTA 6 Online Out at Launch?
No. At its September 17, 2026 shareholder meeting, Take-Two said: "GTA 6 is a single-player title and is due to release this November." PlayStation Support also describes the game as single-player.
Pure Xbox reported that Rockstar described GTA 6 as a single-player experience when it announced the $79.99 price. Everything shown so far, including the Extended Look, focuses on Jason and Lucia's story.
- Online multiplayer at launch: no
- GTA 6 Online release date: not announced
- Name ("GTA Online 2" or other): not announced
- GTA Online (GTA 5): continues to be supported
What Happens to GTA Online?
Take-Two's statement continued: "We will continue to support GTA Online after GTA VI release and beyond." Rockstar is still releasing GTA Online updates, such as the Kortz Center Heist on its YouTube channel.
That means GTA Online on GTA 5 does not shut down when GTA 6 arrives. Rockstar has not said whether progress or money will transfer to a future GTA 6 online mode.
When Could GTA 6 Online Launch?
Only unofficial estimates exist. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said Twitch expects "an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer," suggesting 2027. Rockstar has not confirmed that timeline.
Bloomberg's Jason Schreier said fans should not expect a multiplayer reveal soon. Forbes' Paul Tassi estimated the online mode could be a year or two away. Leaks have also pointed to late 2026, so the range of guesses is wide.
How Rockstar Launched Online Before
Past games give a rough guide. GTA Online went live about two weeks after GTA 5 launched in 2013. Red Dead Online arrived about a month after Red Dead Redemption 2.
GTA 6 is different because Rockstar has openly called it a single-player title at launch. Some coverage speculates the online mode could line up with a PC release, but neither is confirmed.
Is GTA+ Part of GTA 6?
GTA+ is Rockstar's existing membership for GTA Online. Pre-ordering GTA 6 on the PlayStation Store adds one free month of GTA+, claimable until March 31, 2027.
That bonus applies to the current GTA+ service, not to a GTA 6 multiplayer mode. Details are in our pre-order guide.
What to Play on November 19
At launch you get the full story, the open world of Leonida, its vehicles and activities, and the radio stations that now follow you on foot. The Ultimate Edition adds extra shops and vehicles.

Will GTA 6 Online Be Free?
Rockstar has not said. GTA 6 Online has no announced date, price, platform list or feature set.
The only confirmed purchase options are the $79.99 Standard Edition and the $99.99 Ultimate Edition of the single-player game.
GTA 6 Online Rumors to Treat With Caution
Leaks and insiders have claimed launch windows ranging from "within a month" of release to late 2027, plus specific player counts. None have been confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two.
We only add multiplayer details here when Rockstar announces them.
Single-Player Activities at Launch
The Ultimate Edition adds activities and shops threaded through the story. Every version includes the full state of Leonida to explore.
