GTA 6 PC Release Date: What We Know About Grand Theft Auto VI on PC

Official Status: Consoles Only at Launch

The official Grand Theft Auto VI site lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and nothing else. Neither the PlayStation Blog nor any Rockstar announcement mentions a PC edition. Searching the Steam store returns no Grand Theft Auto VI page, only older Rockstar games.

That means you cannot pre-order GTA 6 for PC anywhere official. Any listing claiming to sell a PC copy or a Steam key today is not from Rockstar. Read is GTA 6 on Steam for the store-side picture.

The Q1 2027 Report

In October 2026, GamesBeat reported that GTA 6 will launch on PC in the first three months of 2027. The report cites four anonymous sources familiar with the studio's plans. IGN and other outlets repeated it, each noting that Rockstar and Take-Two did not comment.

If accurate, PC players would wait only a few months after the console launch. Treat the window as a well-sourced rumor rather than a date. We will update this page if Rockstar announces anything official.

• Reported window: January–March 2027
• Rockstar or Take-Two confirmation: none
• PC pre-orders: not available

What Take-Two Has Said About PC

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said on a shareholder call that "the PC is becoming more and more important to our company over time." He was talking about company strategy in general, not specifically about GTA 6. Earlier, he told Bloomberg that Rockstar "always starts on console" because you are "judged by serving the core."

PCGamesN also quotes Zelnick saying Rockstar "will make more announcements in due time." Together, these comments suggest a PC version is part of the long-term plan without confirming when it arrives.

How Long Rockstar Usually Makes PC Players Wait

Rockstar has a long record of console-first launches. GTA 5 reached PC about 19 months after its original console release. Red Dead Redemption 2 took about a year to arrive on PC.

A Q1 2027 release would be a much shorter gap than either. That is one reason outlets describe the GamesBeat report as surprising. Until there is an announcement, past timelines are only a guide.

Should PC Players Wait or Buy a Console?

If you want to play on November 19, you need a PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X|S. The Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99 on both consoles. A console purchase does not carry over to a future PC version.

If you only play on PC, waiting costs nothing, since there is nothing to pre-order yet. Compare the console versions on our PS5 and Xbox pages, or see the GTA 6 on PC overview.

Signs of an Official PC Announcement

An official announcement would come from Rockstar Games' own channels: rockstargames.com, its newswire, or its YouTube and X accounts. A real PC version would also get a store page with Rockstar named as developer and publisher.

Be careful with fan-made Steam page mock-ups and "PC download" sites. They are not official, and downloads offered before any announcement are not the real game.

Why GTA 6 Skips PC at Launch

Rockstar has not explained its platform choice for GTA 6 in detail. Zelnick's public comments point to a deliberate console-first strategy, focused on serving the core audience before expanding to other platforms.

SVG suggests other possible reasons: limiting early modding, keeping players on the base experience and finishing core optimization before adding a new platform. Those are outlet analysis, not Rockstar statements, but they match the studio's past pattern.

PC and GTA 6 Online

GTA 6 launches without an online mode, and Rockstar has not dated its multiplayer. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has suggested multiplayer arrives in 2027. Some coverage speculates that a PC release and the online launch could be aligned.

Neither link is confirmed. SVG even considers it slightly more likely that online arrives on consoles before PC, so bugs can be fixed before a large influx of players. Read GTA 6 Online for the official position.

PC Requirements and Price

Without an announced PC version, there are no official system requirements and no PC price. Any spec sheet or price you see for a PC edition today is an estimate.

For reference, the console versions cost $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. We will add PC pricing and requirements here as soon as Rockstar publishes them. Check GTA 6 on Steam for store-side updates.
