GTA 6 PS5 Pro at a Glance
The PS5 Pro is a launch platform for Grand Theft Auto VI. The game itself is the same PS5 version: there is no separate PS5 Pro edition to buy, and a copy bought for a standard PS5 runs on a Pro.

- Store label: PS5 Pro Enhanced
- Official frame rate: not announced
- Separate Pro edition: no
- Price: same as PS5 ($79.99 Standard, $99.99 Ultimate)
What "PS5 Pro Enhanced" Does and Doesn't Tell You
Sony uses the PS5 Pro Enhanced label for games that have been patched or built to use the Pro's extra GPU power. Usually that means higher resolution, better image quality, a higher or steadier frame rate, or a mix of these. The label alone does not say which one GTA 6 gets.
The PlayStation Store listing for GTA VI shows the label but no performance details and no official download size. Rockstar's PlayStation Blog post with Sony focused on DualSense haptics, adaptive triggers, Tempest 3D AudioTech and SSD load times, which apply to every PS5.
30 FPS or 60 FPS on PS5 Pro?
This is the question most players are asking, and there is still no official answer. Preview coverage has reported that the game targets 30 FPS on PS5 at launch. When asked about a 60 FPS mode, Rockstar North's Rob Nelson reportedly said he would need to check with the technical team, so it was not ruled out.
Analysts, including Digital Foundry, have doubted a stable 60 FPS because the PS5 Pro keeps essentially the same CPU as the standard PS5, and a dense open world like Leonida tends to be CPU-bound. Leaks claiming a 60 FPS Pro mode exist, but none is confirmed. Treat any frame-rate claim as rumor until Rockstar or Sony publishes specs.
Should You Buy a PS5 Pro for GTA 6?
If you already own a PS5, there is no confirmed reason to upgrade before launch. The game runs on every PS5 model, and the Pro's gains are unknown. Waiting for launch-day comparisons costs you nothing, because your GTA 6 copy carries over to a Pro later.
If you are buying a console from scratch and have a 4K TV, the Pro is the safest bet for the best version, since it is the only console with an Enhanced label. On a 1080p screen the difference is likely to be smaller.
PS5 Pro vs Xbox Series X for GTA 6
Microsoft and Rockstar have not published Xbox-specific performance details, and Xbox has no Pro-style mid-generation console. That makes the PS5 Pro the only console with a confirmed enhancement. See the PS5 guide for all PlayStation features or the Xbox guide for Series X|S details.
